How to visit Wang Lang Market – Bangkok – TREKwithBECK
Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand, and it is bustling with energy! There are plenty of things to do in this chaotic city, but personally one of my favourite things to do was to try all the street food.
Bangkok is famous for its street food with Michelin star street vendors all over the city, you are sure to get some delicious meals when you are here! The best place to go try all the street food and even shop, is at one of the many markets.
The most famous market is Chatuchak Market, but if you are looking for an authentic Thai market – I recommend Wang Lang Market.

What is Wang Lang Market?
Wang Lang Market is an authentic local market in Bangkok, that is famous for its Southern Thai food and desserts. It is a day market that is open every day from 9am to 6pm.
This is a traditional and authentic Thai Market, so it doesn’t see many tourists. It is a great way to experience markets, the local way. As it’s a local market, a lot of the signage is in Thai – so if you want to make your trip easy, think about getting a guide.
How to get to Wang Lang Market
Getting to the markets is very easy, you can either take public transportation or a grab to the boat pier.
Public Transport – From the Saphan Taksin BTS station on the Silom Line, you can walk to the boat taxi pier in 2 minutes. Jump on a boat heading towards Nonthaburi and depart at Prannok Pier.
Grab – You can easily catch a grab taxi or motorbike to the pier from any accommodation in Bangkok. I was staying at the Once Again Hostel and caught a motorbike grab to Chang Pier, which cost me 27 Baht. I then caught the boat taxi from Thachang pier to Wang Lang Pier, which cost 9 Baht as a round trip. The taxi boat seemed to come every 10-15mins.
Walking – If you are staying on Khaosan Road, you can walk to the Market within 25 minutes.

This is a foodie’s paradise and had plenty of authentic Thai food sold at very reasonable prices. You can also find plenty of Thai desserts such as sticky rice, coconut pancakes and roti.
There are plenty of other shops here too such as sushi, candy, bakeries, clothing, and hairdressers.
This was my first day in Bangkok and I was craving Thai food, so I went a little crazy at these markets. I spent about 2-3hrs here getting lost in the tiny ally ways and street, and I spent a total of 451 baht for the day (about $20 AUD).
